E.A.P Museum, Richmond (🐈‍⬛)

As I was visiting a dear old friend in Maryland over break, I decided to take an 18-hour solo excursion to Richmond, Virginia in order to visit their Edgar Allan Poe Museum! Here are some neat things I saw while I was there:

This cute little portrait of a 15 year-old Poe according to various descriptions of those who knew him at that age;

Some glassware from Poe’s childhood home;

The ACTUAL stairs from his childhood home, which led up to a lovely reading room that was unfortunately closed for repairs;

Various chairs and writing desks belonging to Edgar Allan Poe;

Really neat original copies of various items, including writing and that thing that isn’t quite a photograph but eh close enough;

Pocket knife and nail file (💀💀💀); and

This amazing letter from Poe’s aunt/mother in law.

All in all it’s a pretty great museum, complete with a whimsical garden set in the middle of its various exhibits that was really quite contemplative. Shout out to the employee who practically gave me a walking tour despite it being her first day, and for introducing me to the resident black cats, Edgar and Pluto:
