Poe, Manga-fied (+Karl)

That's right, ghosts and ghouls. The pen-and-ink man you see here is a manga-style reimagining of our boy Edgar Allan Poe from the 2013 series "Bungo Stray Dogs" by Kafka Asagiri and Sango Harukawa. The raccoon's name is Karl.

(They've got Lovecraft, too. He's so long.)

For the uninitiated, BSD is a zany manga/anime series in which authors from various regions' popular cannons are reimagined as special ability users whose personalities and powers draw from the biographies and works of their real-life counterparts. So -- for example -- H. P. Lovecraft is a sullen and spooky guy whose ability "Great Old One" allows him to transform parts of his body into tentacles.

I've always been partial to Poe's ability myself: "Black Cat in the Rue Morgue" literally transports people into the settings of novels, as stated above.

I also just find his character design super cute. Like why does he have a raccoon named Karl? I don't know. But he's always there.

Bungo Strays Dogs was my introduction to a ton of Japanese writers especially. It was also made all those American and Russian cannon authors feel a bit less intimidating -- besides having a pretty fun plot in itself. I would definitely recommend it for a light read or watch!
